Getting to Green Bowl beach

Reaching the Green Bowl beach parking is very easy. Getting to the actual beachfront is a bit more difficult. As you will need to go down a flight of stairs from the top of the cliffs, down to the beach.

You can reach Green Bowl beach easily by motorbike or by car. Just pop Green Bowl beach in google maps, or any other preferred navigation, and it should lead you straight to it. The road leading up to the parking is just fine.

It will lead you straight up to the entrance gate, where the locals will be collecting the entrance fee. Which is 7k IDR (5k IDR per person and 2k IDR motorbike parking fee).

The parking is pretty huge compared to the size of the beach. Generally there are not a lot of people visiting. So there is plenty of space to park your car or motorbike.

The beachfront itself

Green Bowl beach is a bit of a semi hidden beach. It is very small, very secluded, and as said before, a bit harder to reach. As you will need to go down a flight of stairs to reach it. Besides that, it is probably best to be visiting it when it is low tide.

There are no amenities down at the beach. But on top of the cliffs, at the parking, you will find a local shop and warung to get something to drink or eat.

From there, you will no doubt also be approached by some local elderly women to buy some goods, or to get a massage. But if you or not interested, just kindly decline and be on your way to the beach.

But before going down to the beach, don’t forget to have a good look over the ocean. Because the parking space is on top of the cliffs. Right next to the ocean.

And you might even be able to see Melasti beach in the distance towards the right.

After enjoying the view, you should head left towards the stairs. It isn’t the longest or the worst stairs I’ve seen in Bali. But it nonetheless does require you to be fairly mobile to get down to the beach.

But once you get to the bottom of the stairs, you are able to admire Green Bowl beach.

As said before, the beach isn’t that big. Left of the stairs it immediately gets cut-off by some rocks in the sand.

But towards the right you have some beach where you can relax, and enjoy the ocean water. The cliffside itself is also a bit hollowed out with a cave formation. So that, along with the overhanging vegetation, does provide some shade during the day.

These images were during high tide. When the beach is at its smallest. From what I have been told, and what I have seen from pictures online, the beach does expand more during the low tide hours.

After your day at the beach, it is inevitably time to head back up the stairs. But if you are visiting Bali, and trying to see some more of the sights, it is something you will get used to.

What to do

As mentioned before, Nyang Nyang beach isn’t that big. It is a bit of a small hidden gem. So in general there is just one thing you can do:

  • Chill at the beach: Head down the stairs, find yourself a quiet little spot in the sand, and enjoy the calm and quiet of your beautiful surroundings.

And that is Green Bowl beach.

But before I end this article, I just want to share this amazing birds eye view of the cliffside above Green Bowl beach. Absolutely gorgeous.
