The location

Dreamland beach lies on the western side of the Peninsula. Directly on the border of the Kuta Golf area and the Bukit area. Right in-between Balangan beach and Bingin Beach. And I would have to say, that this beach probably resonates the most with me.

Getting to Dreamland beach

You can access Dreamland beach from the Kuta Golf area, and the Bukit area. Going through the Bukit area will bring you to the beach entrance along the cliff side.

If you want to enter the beach through the Kuta Golf entrance, you will have to follow directions towards the Klapa beach club, or the Dreamland resort. This will lead you to the Dreamland resort parking.

From there you will have to go a bit on foot. Passing some local shops to reach Dreamland beach.

I would suggest entering the beach through the Bukit area. As you will be able to park very close to the beach if you are by motorbike. If you are not already coming from the Bukit area, and you are on a motorbike, I would recommend driving through Kuta Golf. As it is really nice to drive through! It is quiet, with huge and well maintained roads. Almost like driving on a race track.

And if you are by motorbike, you can easily access the Bukit area through the little shortcut road (only crossable by motorbike due to a gate blocking it for cars).

Either way, you will be able to reach Dreamland beach.

Now the beachfront entrance itself looks as follows:

It is easy to determine from which side you will be entering the beach. As next to the very distinguishable Klapa beach club building (with the pointy glass dome and infinity pool), you have a little stream of water. The Kuta Golf entrance takes you along the Klapa building side. Along a few tourist shops. The Bukit side brings you straight up to the beach along the cliffside. If you enter from there, there is a little entrance booth where you will have to make a little donation to enter the beach. I think that is really nice, because you can determine yourself what you want to contribute to the area.

The beachfront itself

Dreamland beach looks absolutely amazing.

You will enter the beach in the main area at the Klapa beach club. That is where normally most people reside. It has a few warungs and vendors where you can grab a bite to eat, and rent a bed and umbrella for the day.

Towards the left of the entrance you basically have the start of the cliffside. Where you will find a lot of sharp pointy rocks in the beach, where the water dances through.

The cliffside basically starts here. You can see it run all the way along the coastline. All the way up to Uluwatu.

Now there is a lot more to explore in the other direction of the beach. It is the part that lies in front of the Jumeirah Bali villa resort.

This part of the beach feels quieter. So if you just want to lay down your beach towel for some more rest and relaxation, this part of the beach is just perfect for you.

You can walk all the way till the end of the beach. Up to the point where the sand transitions into rocks.

Now another nice thing about this beach is that you can also easily walk up the nearside cliff at the entrance. Because the side is a grass patch that has a gentle slope upwards. Which is easy to walk on.

Up on the cliff you can enjoy an amazing view over the beach, admire the waves down below, or just enjoy the view over the ocean. Where you can maybe even spot a volcano or two in the distance.

It is also the place where many locals will drive up to with their motorbikes, or even their car, to enjoy one of those amazing sunsets that this beach offers every day.

What to do

There are plenty of things to do at Dreamland beach:

  • Chill at the beach: You can chill at the beach. It is not one of the longest beaches, but there is more then enough space to lay down your blanket and enjoy the sun and the ocean water. The nice thing is that the part at the entrance is more crowded, but the part further up north is way more quiet. So you can pick whatever you prefer.
  • Enjoy some local cuisine or a nice cold drink: There is one larger warung right at the beach front. Named Dreamland warung. Which serves some amazing local and foreign cuisines. Right on the beach.
  • Shop for souvenirs: This is one of the few beaches, where there are some real tourist shops almost right next to the beach. So if you need to do some last minute souvenir shopping for family and friends at home, then you can do just that. Right here at the beach.
  • Surf: Like many of the beaches in the Peninsula, it is definitely possible to go out surfing in the waters.
  • Visit the Klapa beach club: If you want to enjoy a bit morel luxury, you can visit the Klapa beach club. Here you can relax at any of their lounge spots, enjoy a nice drink or some great cuisine, or jump into their infinity pool. And maybe enjoy a DJ if any is performing their set when you are there.
  • Visit El Kabron: El Kabron is another luxury beach club. But this one is on top of the cliffs. Here you can also enjoy a nice cold drink, some amazing cuisine, or take in the sunset from on top of the cliffs while chilling in their luxury pool.
  • Enjoy the view from the cliffside: The nearby cliffside that you can just walk up on, provides one of the best views in the Peninsula. You can see the whole curve of the cliffside. All the way up to Uluwatu. With all the beaches in-between. And in the other direction you can see far and wide. And even catch a glimpse of the mountains and volcanos in the distance.
  • Enjoy an amazing sunset: I would say that this is the place to enjoy a sunset. It is just so relaxing if you are standing on the cliff. With this relaxing mix of tourists and locals chilling around you. The sound of the waves hitting the shore below you. And the sky being filled up with the beautiful colors from the sunset.

And that is dreamland beach.
