“AN AMAZING LOOKOUT”

The location
Balangan beach is located on the western side of the Peninsula, at the most western tip of Jimbaran. Just north of Dreamland beach and the northern tip of Kuta Golf.
Getting to Balangan beach
To get to Balangan beach you will have to drive criss cross through Jimbaran. You will be able to access the beach from either the northern end or the southern end.
At the northern end you will enter from the parking lot on top of the cliffs. And from the southern end you will be able to drive almost all the way to the beachfront. Right up to the beachfront warungs. If you are by motorbike, and you choose to go this direction, be aware that there are quite a few speed bumps in the road. And they aren’t really that noticeable. Especially when its darker. I myself, had some bumpy surprises on my way over there. Just so you know.
And also if you choose to go this way, you will be greeted by some friendly cows when you park your motorbike.
The price for entrance to the beach is all up to yourself. As they work here with a donation system. So you can decide yourself what you would like to pay. Which I personally find pretty nice.
The beachfront itself
Balangan beach is a beautiful surfers beach, with an amazing lookout point on the cliffs. And I’ll show you a little more about that a little further on.
It is also a fairly large beach that is situated between two cliffs on either side.
With here and there some rocks on the beach. So watch your step, because some of them are pretty sharp.
It feels like a real surfers’ beach. With many surf schools and little warungs situated in the little beach houses on the stilts.
And a lot of surfers in the water, trying to catch the waves.
But besides surfing, there is also plenty of space just to kick back and relax on the beach, with a nice comfy bed under an umbrella.
One of the other really nice things about this beach, is that if you walk towards the northern part, you will come across this cliff which has this amazing look-out on top.
It runs far into the ocean. Providing well over a 180 degree view over the ocean and over Balangan beach.
A lot of locals hang out here at the end of the day. Enjoying the view over the ocean. Hoping to catch a nice sunset.
What to do
There are plenty of things to do at Balangan beach:
- Chill at the beach: There is plenty of space to just chill at the beach. At the northern part the beachfront is completely open. Here you can also rent an umbrella and a beach bed. So you can relax the whole day long.
- Surf: Surfing is one of the main things to do at Balangan beach. There are a lot of surfing schools located in the little beach houses on the stilts. So if you are a surfer, it is a no brainer to go out on the waves here. Or if you are new to surfing, it is a great place to get your first surfing lesson in.
- Enjoy some local cuisine or a nice cold drink: There are also plenty of possibilities to get a nice cold drink or some local cuisine at one of the warungs in the little beach houses. As the beach houses are up on stilts, they offer a nice view over the ocean. So you can enjoy watching the surfers trying to catch the waves.
- Enjoy the view from the lookout: Probably my favorite thing to do, is enjoy the amazing view from the lookout point on the cliffs. You can see the whole of Balangan beach. And looking in the other direction you can see everything from Jibaran, Ngurah Rai airport, and even Canggu and the mountainous areas of Bali, far in the distance.
- Enjoy a sunset: You will be able to admired one of the most amazing sunsets from Balangan beach when you have some clear skies in the evening. As it faces exactly in the setting sun’s direction.
And that is Balangan beach.
